History
My journey into ergonomics began with my own injury. I’d been doing extensive computer work, stapling, hole-punching, and binding for a big Human Resources project. Bilateral tendonitis crept up on me slowly, but definitely left its mark. Who gets hurt doing office work, right? Turns out, too many of us! I had my first ergonomic assessment, supplemented by a few months of physical therapy, and it changed my world. Right then, I began my mission to prevent others from experiencing this kind of pain and discomfort - not to mention the herculean effort necessary to navigate the Workers’ Comp process.
Over the years, I’ve spent many hours and days at client sites, including LinkedIn, Twitter, Cisco (pictured here during the filming of a training video), Riverbed, and countless others throughout the San Francisco Bay Area. I’d walk the floors, seeking individual employees for appointments, doing general ergo check sweeps, and delivering recommended equipment. After I had some time in and my work became a regular part of their services, I would often be stopped by employees in need. They usually didn’t know my name, but “excuse me. Aren’t you the ergo lady?” became a daily question. Yes, yes I am. How can I help you?
